In my last two posts, I mentioned that I have been studying to teach online courses and even presented the equipment and software that I plan to use. Why? I want to venture into teaching at Udemy and other Platforms like Skillshare. Because it can build my company brand and provide an income in the six figure digits if done right! I also like the idea of making extra income working from home.
I have read five eBooks on the subject of teaching Udemy courses and only one of those shows how to use the platform. Even that one does not go through the entire process. So after I finish writing my first course, you might find out that I write a book on using the Udemy and Skillshare’s platform. I see a need for people to know more about the process as well as teaching skills. But, the five eBooks I read, focus mainly on the teaching skills than how to use the platforms.
If you are interested in teaching online courses, here are some helpful tips I picked up.
- Teach something you are passionate about. If you have skills in something and you can teach it, use that as a way to make extra income.
- Learn some of the teaching styles and learning styles before you start. That will help you focus on teaching the same thing in different ways to help different style learners to learn the material.
- Remember that the courses need to be 80% video. You can break that down to you on video talking to the students, (the talking head style), recording you screen going through Presentation Software, and recording your screen to present the lesson if you are teaching tech courses like using software. Use graphs like pie charts and so forth for data relations.
- Utilize the videos on different platforms to make additional income. You can use the same course over and over again.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I pray you and yours are well. Have a Blessed Week!
I have been continuing my eBook reading from Amazon and I have found a book with more detail into how to use the Udemy.com platform. “The Ultimate Online Course Creation Guide” by Frank Kane. It is a good read and available on Kindle Unlimited
